The Million Cat Challenge, Year Three: Where the Rubber Meets the Road, Part I
Thursday, May 11, 9-10:30 AM

Saving more lives, taking better care of cats, and eliminating shelter crowding…all without increasing your budget or asking more of your already overextended staff. Does that sound too good to be true? Hear from the driven, daring Million Cat Challenge shelters that did it—what worked, what didn’t, and how you can implement changes when you get home that will save more cats, give you more time and let your staff actually enjoy summer again.

Presenters: Dr. Cindi Delany, Associate Veterinarian, Koret Shelter Medicine Program, UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine and Managing Shelter Veterinarian, Yolo County Animal Services; Dr. Kate Hurley, Director, Koret Shelter Medicine Program, UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine and Million Cat Challenge Co-Founder; Kathy Innocente, Director of Operations, Animal Welfare Agency of South Central Ontario; Dr. Julie Levy, University of Florida Maddie’s Shelter Medicine Program, College of Veterinary Medicine and Million Cat Challenge Co-Founder; Monica Wylie, Deputy Director, Humane Society for Tacoma and Pierce County

Break out the calculators and power tools. Go through a detailed demonstration that will give you everything you need to calculate your own “magic number”—the perfect number of cats and housing units to maximize your lifesaving capacity. Next, see a hands-on demonstration of how to build beds, make curtains, install portals and set up cages to give every cat the care they deserve.
